Small Groups

We have a number of Life Groups at St Paul’s with three main aims - to encourage members
to grow

in their relationship with God

in their relationships with each other

in their engagement with the local community and the wider world

Listening to God through the Bible

The Bible...dry and dusty?... exciting and challenging?

This small group provides a space where we can discover together how, in the 21st century,
we can listen to a God who longs to listen to us.

Led by Jean Sims, we meet fortnightly on a Monday afternoon, in Church.

Taking us further in our walk of faith wherever we are now. We aim to find time and space
to think about the big questions of life and to explore the life of the man at the heart of the Christian faith.

Led by Ruth and Ian Robinson we meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday evenings each month.

Life Builder

John and Sheila Christophers’ bible study group meet on the 1st and 3rd

Wednesdays at 7:45 pm each month reflecting on passages from

scripture and asking “What does it mean to you?”

The Bible and Us Today

At the home of Allan and Loris Brown

We meet weekly for three blocks of twelve weeks a year to look at a book of the bible together
and to try to see what it means for our lives today. We pray together, laugh and share together,
and end each term with a social evening.

An open and welcoming Life group for women that aims to provide an opportunity in busy lives
for some space, spiritual nourishment and the opportunity to share and discover more of God
through study of the Bible and friendship with each other. We currently meet on Thursday evenings every 2 or 3 weeks in one of our homes.

When young people get a bit 'too old' for young church, what is there for them at St Paul's?
Infinity is our young people’s group who have just completed Youth Alpha and who will be
embarking on other activities and programmes going forward.

Silent Prayer Group

This group meets at 8.15 pm on Wednesdays. We gather to pray, together but silently,
for the needs of the church and the world, for the role of St Paul's as a witness in the community,
for those known to us and for one another. The hour closes with a few spoken prayers led by one
of the group. We have found praying together in this way a source of support and encouragement
and the atmosphere of peace and calm very therapeutic. Anyone is welcome to join us,
for all or part of the hour, either occasionally or regularly.

In addition we have a number of Welcome Groups at St Paul's

Our Welcome Groups, with a social/interest focus are:

book that we have all chosen and read in the intervening weeks,
drink wine, eat cake and generally enjoy each other's company.

Craft Group

Knit, crochet, pray. Craft and Chat meets usually on the first and third Wednesdays of the month
from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm in the Church lounge.

Meeting on usually the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month at Copper on Central Avenue, we drink coffee, some have a light breakfast and we share and discuss topics that have been thrown up by the media. They are never short of content! The key thrust is ...
“What is our Christian response to what we have read/seen/heard?” and “How does this affect me at work (or in my life) on Monday and throughout the week?”

Led by Andrew Little and Charles George.

Art Group

Meets fortnightly after the Wednesday morning service (2nd and 4th Wednesdays). For more information contact Janice Sutton.
